This is one of the first works I did on canvas. It's a mix of acrylic paint, paint sample
chips stolen from a hardware store, and a photograph of my lover Michelle's foot. (The foot
is in the bottom left corner of the photograph.) This is yet another portrait of Mr Rogers,
inspired by a fantastic photospread that was in Esquire magazine.
I'm not sure why, but a friend of mine loved this painting, bought it, and paid good money
to have it professionally framed. They put the painting inside a black frame with dark purple
matting. The result was somewhat gothic and gloomy. My friend hung it over his diningroom
table, and this double-nosed face stared down at him whenever he ate. He's a vegetarian.
Maybe he missed the horror he used to feel when he ate meat.
