I like to look though books of art for inspiration. This cat was inspired by a cat painted by Andy Warhol. After I painted it, Michelle said she really liked it, and asked if she could have it. Sure thing, I said. It hung on her apartment wall during the early days of our courtship.

A few months later, Michelle's sister Sarah was visiting from Prince Edward Island. "You didn't give me a birthday present," she said. "That's a great painting. Can I have it?"

"Sure thing," Michelle said.

And I haven't seen the painting since. But it's nice to know that somewhere in PEI is my painting of a smiling orange cat.
